Coronavirus update - 9th July 2020
Following the latest government advice we are now in a position to open our Tommy Armstrong Tea Rooms at East Tanfield station on Sundays from 10.30am to 3.30pm. We've put extra hygiene measures in place to make sure 'we're good to go', including sanitiser stations when you enter and leave buildings, a one-way system through the tea rooms, till screens, additional cleaning regimes and contactless payments. There's also extra seating in East Tanfield carriage shed and on the station platform. Hot drinks, cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and cakes are available.
No trains will be operating but we hope that we'll have everything in place to do so by early August. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more information.
Please be aware that engineering trains will be operating along the railway so we kindly ask that you do not walk on the railway.
